Conexus introduces ATLEGA app for education
Orange Botswana Foundation has teamed up with Conexus, a youth owned business to introduce ATLEGA, a mobile education app that helps students from primary to Cambridge level to study anywhere they are.
The Orange Foundation Digital Schools programme addresses the Education and Training Sector Strategic Plan in many ways, including but not limited to, deployment of ICT gadgets to schools. This is achieved through donation of tablets to participating schools, Development of digital content or e-content.
Through the introduction of ATLEGA mobile education app, the company intends to reach each and every child regardless of their geographical location as well as close the economic and social inequality in the access to, use of, or impact of information and communication technologies in the educational sector. This will be done through facilitating all students to revise and retain information, view the National Curriculum (syllabus), test their knowledge and understanding, share knowledge with their peers, and access educational news and other relevant student information.
Speaking to BG News Orange Director, Legal Service and Corporate Affairs, Lepata Mafa- Nthomola said, “In times like these, where technology continues to play a pivotal role in our lives, it is vital for our children to have access to relevant studying materials. Whether for tests, studies or purely for the love of learning, ATLEGA offers access to educational information that keeps all in tune with what matters most to them. It is simple, convenient, and, above all, available to everyone.”
She further said Orange Botswana understands its role in helping to drive wider socio-economic development.
“Through collaborations with upcoming start-ups, we believe the students will benefit even more, consequently improving educational performance of our schools and thus raising a well informed and educated nation which is enunciated in the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.”

Mafa – Nthomola said ATLEGA was designed in partnership with Conexus, a youth owned business which Orange Botswana previously engaged to develop an e-learning application for the Orange Foundation Digital Schools programme. The collaboration speaks to empowerment of local start-ups and partnering with like-minded organisations to find solutions that drive socio-economic development.
The launch of ATLEGA educational application is actually the second act in the quest by Orange Botswana to digitally transform the educational landscape in the country. Last year Orange Botswana signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Basic Education and Local government to launch a digital school programme in government schools. The main challenge in government schools is access to books and learning material therefore Orange Botswana partnered with Conexus who are digital experts to convert upper primary school learning material into digital format.
