BPF and the Lama connection

Former president Lt. Gen. Dr. Ian Khama is believed to have deliberately chosen to have the launch of his party - Botswana Patriotic Front - on Saturday July 6th in Kanye to coincide with the birthday of the exiled spiritual leader of Tibet, Dalai Lama. This publication has it on good authority that Khama chose July 6 to hold the inaugural and elective congress of the BPF as way of honouring his friend, the Lama. Unfortunately the party could not hold elections as they are still to put structures in place. The current Dalai Lama is the 14th and his real name is Lhamo Thondup. He is 84 years old and was born on the 6th July 1935 in Taktser, China. Khama still loves BDP Meanwhile, although he has launched the new party, Khama still considers himself a member of the rulinig Botswana Democratic Party. This publication has it on good authority that he called BDP Treasurer Satar Dada and informed him that he is still a member of the BDP and loves it. Dada confirmed to The Midweek Sun that Khama had indeed “called me on Saturday informing me that he has still not left the BDP and still remains a member in good standing.”
