Botho University student shoots himself
A 23-year-old Botho University student allegedly shot himself with a shot gun in Borolong over the past weekend. According to reliable sources, the young man committed suicide after his parents left for church. “He was apparently fine when they left home. He did not seem to be disturbed in any way,” the source said.
Members of his family were shocked to discover his body lying in a pool of blood in his bedroom when they returned home from church.
Tatitown Station Commander Senior Superintendent Cyprian Magalila confirmed the incident. He said the student’s body was found in his bedroom and opposite him was a shot gun which they suspect he used to claim his life. “We do not know what led the deceased to claim his life as there was no suicide note on the scene,” he said.
Magaila noted that this was the third suicide involving a gun in Borolong, in a period of just three months. He advised parents and guardians who own guns to keep them hidden to avoid such incidents. Magaila also encouraged people to seek assistance from counsellors, church leaders and trusted family members when they have problems.
