BDP celebrates Samedupi and Xobe victory
Botswana Democratic Party members gathered in Xobe and Samedupi 2 over the weekend to celebrate their victory in 2014 general election and to thank members.
Chairman for the Okavango Sub council, Mbahahauka Kambimba told members they are expecting the party to be a constructive organisation in which participatory democracy shall be maintained. He said cell committees are vital as they form the strong foundation that keeps the party going and winning elections, thus, urging them to be the eyes and ears of government.
“The power of BDP belongs to you, you should lead by example and campaign hence getting new members from the opposition to our party, but that will only be achieved when the public is happy by giving them what you assured during the campaigns prior to the 2014 election”, he said.
Kambimba urged members to make known to the public all the government initiatives aimed at improving their livelihoods, adding that they should start with their closer relatives and neighbours to bring them to the party so that they may win the 2019 election. Kambimba said they can only attract more members to the BDP by giving the voters and citizens first priority when it comes to allocation of government initiatives and by listening to their problems.
He encouraged cell committees to participate freely in party meetings and conferences which members are entitled to attend, since that will help them to discuss party matters and policies so that they may be familiar with the activities of the party. Councillor for Thamalakane South, Duncan Enga told members of BDP that working cooperatively and having the voluntary desire will help them to win the election in 2019.
Other speakers included NWDC chairman, who is also former councillor for Nokaneng, Lathang Molonda and ward councillor, Vepaune Moreti.
