BCW auctioned to highest bidder

It never rains but pours for Miss Botswana pageant holder - Botswana Council of Women (BCW).

The organisation is now being auctioned to the highest bidder by the 2013 top three winners – the queen Rosemary Keofitlhetse and her princesses, Betty Seatlholo and Khumo Leburu - for failure to fulfill obligations for prizes.

Then only 20-year-old at the time and a student at Botswana College of Agriculture (BCA), Rosemary gleefully wore the coveted crown as Miss Botswana. Sweet Baint and Pleasant Worthy were the organisers contracted by the Botswana Council of Women to organise the event.

Hardly two years later Keofotlhetse, Seatlholo and Khumo approached the Lobatse High Court demanding to be paid over P600 000 for their prizes. A breakdown of their prizes shows that Keofitlhetse was entitled to a Peugeot RCZ 1.6 and accommodation while the promised goodies for first princess, Seatlholo included P70 000.00 prize money, P30 000.00 hamper and P5 000.00 Yardley hamper.

Khumo, the second princess was entitled to P50 000. 00 prize money and P20 000.00 hamper. Judge Michael Leburu made an order in their favour. After failing to pay up, BCW property has now been attached and will be put up for public auction next month.

The property to be sold is a certain piece of land being Lot 13106 in Gaborone measuring 3048m2 held under title deed No. 356/ 1989 dated 9th May 1989 made in favour of BCW.

The property is with developments being 1 flat, comprising 1 kitchen, sitting room, bath, 2 toilets, 2 bedrooms, 2 classrooms, kitchen toilets, storeroom, toilets and play ground.

The sale would be on the 25 of July 2016.
