At 43, Kgosi Gasebalwe Seretse is an eligible bachelor
At 43, Kgosi Gasebalwe Seretse of Pilikwe is a man under pressure to bring his tribe a Mohumagadi (queen). Author, former journalist and pastor at Kings Highway Church in Pilikwe, Seretse is a very intelligent traditional leader who also boasts good looks. He tells The Midweek Sun that he is very much single and believes that at the right time, he will marry. His take is that one must be prepared both emotionally, spiritually, financially, mentally and physically. However, he says that it is wrong for one to marry because others are doing it. He’s observed that people nowadays divorce because of finances. “As a man, you must be prepared to provide for your family and not just that but to lead them as the high priest,” he says.
The chief states that it is very important for men to be ready before tying the knot. “Emotionally, do you know how to solve issues without running away from home or oppressing your wife? Physically, are you aware that your body belongs to your wife and spiritually, you may meet someone who is less mature than you in the Lord or vice versa? Are you ready to grow her patiently?” he asks rhetorically. Interestingly, he believes that the right age to marry is 25-35 years or else one is a ‘lehetwa.’ He says that if one is late, one must do it the latest at 45 years old.
Does this mean he is a lehetwa or that he is eyeing someone to make mohumagadi soon? “Marriage shows order and that a man is organised. It builds communities and nations. At the right time, I will marry,” he says, also adding that he has always believed in having children within wedlock. Describing his ideal woman, he says that she has to be God fearing, genuine and beautiful.
