Puma Energy powers the 2016 Toyota 1000Km Desert race

Puma Energy Botswana are set to be the official fuel sponsors for the up coming   2016 Toyota 1000km Desert Race.

The multinational petroleum company   will power most of the off road racing vehicles for the spectacular event scheduled for Jwaneng mining town from 24th until 26th June.

At a media briefing held at Keyone Filling station in Gaborone this week, Puma Energy General Manager Mahube Mpugwa said the company has boosted its sponsorship of the marathon race by becoming the official fuel supplier. “This is an enormous benefit to competitors as they are able to buy their fuel onsite at a subsidized price,” he said, adding that the company will also be sponsoring fuel to the event and handle all the logistics and ensure that the racing teams are supplied. “The move will improve the safety aspect of the race as competitors no longer have to transport their own fuel.”

Mpugwa said the sponsored fuel would be provided to all registered participants of the race, being racecars, quad bikes and motorbikes. Moreover, the company is expected   sponsor two racecars during the event. “In addition to our sponsorship of the event we are delighted to announce that we are sponsoring two race cars, class A driver Dr Keith Makenete with his navigator Taelo Mochebelele and class P car driver Andrew Makenete with his navigator Reginald Mothibeli. Our sponsorship of the aforementioned is in the form of fuel and technical support to the value of P65 000.”
