Multi-million Pula mall for Ramotswa

Vantage Properties plans to build the first shopping mall in Ramotswa next year. Named Hill Top Mall, it will be the first semi closed mall and is estimated to cost P40 Million. Measuring approximately 5000 sqm Hill Top Mall is in its first phase.

The mall will meet the demand of the market in Ramotswa as well as save consumers travel time to Gaborone for shopping. “We want to change the property landscape in Ramotswa and give the people options and things to do in Ramotswa,” says the Chief Executive Officer of Vantage Properties Sethebe Manake, the developers of the Hill Top Mall.

Ramotswa village is 37 Kilometres from Gaborone but residents have to grapple with limited shops while the village is gradually expanding and unable to meet the growing demand for goods and services. Gaborone has been the first choice for shopping for Ramotswa residents.

Manake says the intention of the mall is to promote local businesses. The structure will be the first phase and the second phase includes hotel and entertainment facilities and a filling station. She says the mall is already open for lettings.

“We would like to be the first mall that gives preference to locally owned businesses,” Manake says. The owners of the centre are young business owners with the mandate to ensure that the mall will be professionally managed by Batswana, who also want to give a hand to other business owners to thrive in Botswana.

Currently the development team is engaging locals on the project and hope to break ground in May 2016. The mall is expected to open September 2018.
