MAN OF THE MOMENT

Finance and Development Planning minister, Ontefetse Kenneth Matambo will next week Monday present to parliament the budget speech for 2016/17.

The College of Williams educated Matambo’s budget speech is coming at a time the economy is on its lowest tide amid declining diamond revenues and looming full blown recession. Amid all this, expectations from the general public are that the finance minister will come with specific figures regarding the much-talked about Economic Stimulus Package (EPS).

President Ian Khama announced the ESP last year, as a ‘Marshall Plan’ meant to stimulate the economy. The ESP will among others tap into the country’s foreign reserves to fund various projects all over the country.
