BancABC launches new mobile banking app

Privately-owned lender BancABC has launched a new mobile banking platform coined ‘BancABC Mobi.

The service will allow BancABC customers to enjoy banking convenience on the go, by transacting on their mobile phones at the touch of a button. The BancABC Mobi comprises a first-in-market self-registration application for smartphones, and USSD dial string *117# created specifically for phones that do not have smartphone competencies.

Demonstrating on how the service works, at the launch last week, Chester Nziradzebhuka, Country Manager-Cards and eChannels said, any BancABC customer to interact on their account, at any time, can use BancABC Mobi. A simple three-step process of downloading from the app stores and registering for the app allows customers to perform various transactions.

For the USSD option, customers dial *117# to register and transact at their convenience. Some of the options offered on this service include the ability to make DSTv payments, loan application enquiries, purchases of prepaid electricity, purchases of prepaid airtime and balance enquiries among other functionalities.

It also affords users the liberty to conduct inter-account transfers between own accounts, transfers to other BancABC accounts, transfers to other banks as well. The launch of the bank’s new digital service across all the countries it operates in took place after the mobile banking solution had been piloted and tested in Zambia.
