Architecture body hosts panel discussion

Architects Association of Botswana (AAB) hosted an inaugural panel discussion at the University of Botswana conference centre themed, ‘Finding the ‘I’ in architecture.’ The stakeholder engagement forum will culminate in a cocktail soiree scheduled for Thursday December 6, 2018 at Masa Square Hotel, one of the event main sponsors.The panelists for the panel discussion were; Leta Mosienyane, Luc Van de Casteele, Pulane Mpotokwane, Bakang Palai, Moemedi Gabana and Lemaseya Khama who were each tasked with leading identity traits discussions on the meaning of architecture. What is architecture and how has it evolved? What does the future hold for Architects in Botswana and internationally? The panelists are highly respected professionals in the construction industry and have expertise in the various facets of architecture. Entrepreneurship, real estate management, sustainable design consultancy, property valuation and management, modern and urbanization of architectural crafts, property financing, the African renaissance, tensions between modernity and tradition, architectural history and innovation were some of the thought provoking issues discussed. Product suppliers, stakeholders and sponsors were afforded an opportunity to present on their services, with the second installment of the Architects panel discussion being set as an annual calendar event, scheduled just before their annual year end event - next year. The panel discussion convener was Dr Chadzimula Molebatsi of the University of Botswana and the president of the Association, Gorata Kgafela, Mpho Mogasha and Thandeka Palai both exco members of AAB, coordinated the time keeper and coordinator’s roles. Tshatsha Diraditsile, the Architects Association’s marketing partner from On-Point Botswana said, “It is pleasing to get support from South African companies on this inaugural event. It speaks volumes about the prospects of the growth for the event and generally the mutual relationships built going forward.”
