Afena Capital Botswana to acquire 51% of shares from parent group

Afena Capital Botswana management and the company staff trust  have proposed to snap up an additional 51 percent in Afena Capital group,a statement issued recently has revealed.

However,the acquistion will be subjected to regulatory approvals. If it gets the nod, Afena Capital Botswana will be one of the few citizen majority  controlled asset management firms in the county.Moreover, Afena Capital Botswana’s shareholder and Managing Director Bakang Seretse has  explained  that the transaction will  enhance the ability of the company to maintain  and grow its business  in the country for the benefit of all stakeholders.

He pointed out that the transaction is a key milestone in the intensive, on- going citizen empowerment process at Afena. “Our empowerment strategy addresses all of the principal components of citizen empowerment as envisaged by our clients  and indeed  with the general  spirit prevailing in the country, ” said Seretse.

In addition,the outgoing  Chairman of Afena Capital group,Tebogo Naledi stated that such a transaction  will open up opportunities  in Botswana.Naledi said the transaction will allow for Afena Capital Botswana  to build on the success,the firm has enjoyed so far.
