Manyapetsa tells UDC to pay back his money

Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) activist Lotty Manyapetsa has called on Umbrella for Democratic Change to pay back his money that he contributed towards investigations into the late Gomolemo Motswaledi’s death.

Following his death in a car accident in July 2014, UDC called on Batswana to make monetary contributions towards investigations into the cause of the death. The UDC expressed suspicions that he could have been killed. Manyapetsa this past weekend challenged the UDC to reimburse him the P160.00 he contributed. “I contributed P160.00 towards the investigation but to this day there is no report. We are still waiting for Motswaledi’s report which as Batswana we were long promised. Of course at that time we cried for Motswaledi. Right now we are not told what happened to our money or to the report,” said Manyapetsa.

Manyapetsa dumped Botswana Congress Party in 2015 to join BDP. His defection came after he was suspended from BCP for allegedly plotting to destroy the party by recruiting its members to the BDP. Speaking at a rally in Mochudi over the weekend to launch BDP Parliamentary candidate for Mochudi East, Manyapetsa said it is high time the UDC account for the funds raised towards the investigations since it has failed to release the report.

He indicated that the police have done their job properly and came to a conclusion that there was no foul play in Motswaledi’s death. UDC has long promised to release the report when it is ready and it is now almost four years since the investigation was concluded. Turning on the UDC candidate Moagi Molebatsi, Manyapetsa said he should stop misleading Bakgatla that he is a close friend of Bakgatla’s paramount chief Kgosi Kgafela II. He said the chief does not have friends as he loves all his subjects equally. He said Molebatsi has not been active in any community activities.
