BNF wraps up 50th Anniversary celebrations

The Botswana National Front (BNF) is this weekend scheduled to wrap up its 50th Anniversary celebrations in Mochudi.

The party has held celebrations in all regions. BNF Publicity Secretary Justin Hunyepa says Mochudi was chosen as the final area to hold the celebration because of the history attahced to the village. “The party is giving the Kgatleng’s two constituencies an early Christmas as historically the BNF was formed in the village in 1965.

The two constituencies have not only been loyal to the party, but have been one of the BNF strongholds,” said Hunyepa. The BNF spokesperson stated that preparations are at an advanced stage as several meetings organised by councillors have already been held. The Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) contracting partners and the Botswana Congress Party, trade unions, local strategic partners as well as BNF international partners are lined up for the big celebrations, said Hunyepa.

He said all constituencies throughout the country have been invited for the massive celebrations. “The Kgatleng Bogosi has also been invited for this monumental event as they were very crucial in the formation of the party in Mochudi. Exciting activities have been lined up this month as a build-up to the final day.

These include panel discussions, debates and presentations by different speakers who will be sharing the party’s history from formation to date. “There will be an award ceremony on the day to appreciate the different cadres that have kept the party going despite the challenges.

A Party Veteran Committee will also be launched to tap on their priceless and invaluable experience,” he explained. Hunyepa stated that the two constituencies of Mochudi East and West will also be welcoming a sizeable number of new members from the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).
