Boko breaks down in tears

Leader of Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) broke down in tears yesterday (Tuesday) when announcing the death of UDC Member of Parliament for Tlokweng Same Bathobakae.

Bathobakae who was known in political circles as ‘Kwankwetla’ died on Monday night at her place in Tlokweng. It is not yet clear as to what caused her death and police investigations are still at an initial stage to determine the cause of death. Boko who is also President of Botswana National Front - a contracting partner of UDC could not hold back his tears when addressing the media before heading to the BNF Head Office to address UDC members on the matter.

Bathobakae is also a former BNF Vice President and former South East District Council Chairperson. She was regarded as an instrumental member of the Boko regime when the BNF was polarised. Boko revealed that his former Second-In Command played a major role to stabilise the party. He indicated that just like those people who always laugh a lot, he also found himself in an emotional situation that saw him cry.

“I worked with her in the trenches of struggle battles in the BNF and UDC. She has been a pillar of strength in all of us She leaves a big void in our lives and struggle for true freedom of this country. People who laugh uncontrollably at some time they do cry because they care deeply.

Love, I am not talking about superficial love, but I am talking about committed and deep love. That is why I cried. I am even failing to console myself but I have a mammoth task to console my colleagues,” said Boko.
