Five people including two children survive freak accident at Game city circle

Five people including children   aged   between four and six years survived a traffic accident   in which a combi   overturned at the Game city round about   in Gaborone on Wednesday evening.

The accident   is reported to have involved two other cars.  In an interview this week Superintendent King Tshebo of the Old Naledi police said a 34 year old Motswana man who was driving the combi is likely to face several charges including driving under the influence of   alcohol, fleeing from an accident scene and dangerous driving. According to Tshebo, a 4 year old toddler   has since been admitted to the   hospital after suffering head injuries while a six   year old child and two older children escaped with minor bruises. “It seem like the combi   driver    was   involved   in an earlier accident near Stanbic bank in the Game city area. The   driver is believed to have fled the scene and drove towards Kgale Mall   before joining   the Western by pass and drove towards the game city circle facing oncoming traffic,” Tshebo said.  Moreover, Tshebo   said the combi ended up overturning at the Game city circle around 6 pm   where   two other   vehicles were   involved. “It appears   that the driver was ferrying his four children   in the   combi at the time.” Tshebo said alcohol might be a factor in the   accident as the driver who spent the night in custody was tested before   being freed on Thursday.

In addition, Tshebo said   investigations into the matter are ongoing. He urged drivers to be considerate of other road users. “I advise   people not to drink and drive, taking even one drink might impair ones driving ability”
