Race for power takes ugly twist at BISA

The race for power at Botswana Integrated Sports Association (BISA) ahead of their Annual General Elections scheduled for November has taken an ugly twist. Vice President Montlenyane Radihephi is challenging President Joshua Gaotlhobogwe for the presidency. Radihephi was unleashed during the north zone meeting held in Maun a few days ago while Gaotlhobogwe was nominated in north central in Palapye.

The duo has been working together for the past four years but sources within the current committee say their relationship was a gut wrenching one. They are alleged to be silently plotting each other’s downfall. Both the president and his assistant are said to have always been at each other’s throats. “Radihephi was in hot water, Gaotlhobogwe always dumped everything on him.

He allowed him to be roasted by the association on his behalf,” said the anonymous source. When brought to speed about claims making rounds, Radihephi remained cagey but admitted that he and Gaotlhobogwe had their differences in the board room. “Like any other association, we had our differences but we always found ways of finding an amicable solution to push the BISA mandate forward,” he said.

Asked as to why he was challenging Gaotlhobogwe when many expect him to be supporting him if indeed they had a good working relationship, he said that he is following his own interests of career growth. On the other hand, Gotlhobogwe expressed great devastation over the claims. “I cannot recall any day that I stepped on anybody’s toes, me and Radihephi have always been in good books, there is no bad blood between us,” he said.

In another recent development, the current Secretary General (SG) Gomolemo Rankosha is said to be at pains because his assistant Chris topher Chikwakwa has also launched an attack against him. Chikwakwa will be looking to dethrone Rankosha from his SG position. Sun Sports is reliably informed that the two gentlemen do not see eye to eye. They have never had a solid relationship and the feud is said to have grown bigger with years. Reached for comment, Rankosha reserved his comment on the issue. Chikwakwa was unavailable for comment at time of going to print.
