Sechele becomes bodybuilding royalty
Botswana’s chiselled muscleman Gontse Sechele has finally cashed in on his million-pula physique following a resounding victory at the W.F.F Pretoria Classic in South Africa this past weekend. The hulking Sechele won in the extreme body (over 90 kg) and earned himself the lucrative Pro- Card. The prize means statuesque beefcake now becomes an elite bodybuilder with worldwide recognition. Appearing as if he was curved by Michelangelo himself, Sechele’s biceps, triceps and quads will now generate much needed revenue to power his international career.
Nevertheless, Sechele’s victory is a watershed moment for bodybuilding in Botswana. Once a fringe sport that has been looked at with a side eye and shunned by local sporting authorities is likely to become a mainstream sport in Botswana as young people are likely to develop interest in the sport. Sechele’s focus dedication and insatiable will to succeed saw him competing all over the world despite travelling under tight budget. Despite numerous challenges and stumbling blocks on the way Sechele maintained his composure and never lost hope.
A life dedicated to improving every inch of his body mirrors that of another famous bodybuilder and former Mr Universe Anorld Schwazzerneger. Both the Australian oak and Sechele came from humble beginning and realised their dream of becoming elite body builders. With a Pro Card nothing will stand on Sechele’s way to become international bodybuilding royalty like his film star idol. Victory this past weekend means Sechele has now qualified for the world champions scheduled for Singapore in Asia later this year. I have to secure first position if in order to qualify for a pro card during the event. “Once I acquire a pro-card, I will be recognized as a professional and become more marketable.
The pro card, my passport to bigger events that offer better rewards. Ahead of the eagerly anticipated bodybuilding spectacle, Sechele said he is working on overall body conditioning. In recent years, Sechele’s ripped and statuesque physique has won him numerous awards including Mr Botswana (2009, 2011, 2012). In 2014, Sechele came 3rd overall in the lightweight division at the GNC Pump Mr Universe Contest in Seoul, South Korea. He managed to secure 4th in Dublin, Ireland and another 4th place during the National Amateur Body Building Association (NABBA) World Fitness Federation Championships held Cypress. Some of Sechele’s sponsors include BLM Electrical, Mail Equip, Bokone Reticulation and Electrical Services, BH Botswana and Golden Silence Investments.
