Women golf championship this weekend

The Botswana ladies open Golf championship starts this weekend at the Gaborone Golf Club.The two-day event, which is exclusively for women, will see players compete for over 36 holes, where the winner will be determined by the number of stokes for the duration of the tournament.

According to a press release from Botswana Golf Union (BGU) the event is an effort to promote women golf in Botswana. “The tournament has an objective to afford the ladies an opportunity to participate in their exclusive national golf championship.”

It is also set to serve as a breeding ground for developing talent. The tournament offers opportunities for corporate exposure to the large number of people and showcases successful businesswomen in Botswana who play and support the game.

The event will feature stalls and exhibitions by successful women Funds raised at the event will go to support deserving local charity organisation as determined by the organising committee.

The championship is an exclusive ladies’ only event and a prestigious tournament in the BGU calendar of events, which will raise awareness and promote women’s sports especially in golf.
