Galaxy snatch Sesinyi

beMOBILE premiership outfit Jwaneng Galaxy have signed prolific goal scorer and one of the most promising strikers in the domestic league, Thabang Sesinyi.

Sesinyi confirmed this week that he recently agreed to a two-year contract with Galaxy, in arguably one of the biggest moves in the current transfer window. The lanky goal poacher is expected to bolster the fortunes of the ambitious Jwaneng outfit that recently signed another big star Sekhana Koko.

In an interview this week, the former Orapa United striker said he hoped to get more   game time and opportunities at Galaxy. The move follows speculation linking the talented striker-cum-midfielder to newly promoted PSL outfit, Baroka FC. The Palapye born Sesinyi broke into the local football scene last season and quickly became one of the most dangerous strikers under Zimbabean headcoach Madinda Ndlovu.

Despite flying under the radar for the first half of the last season, the former Limkokwing student quickly put himself among the top goal scorers in the country and got the public’s attention in the process. Soon after becoming a star at the red-hot Ostriches, national headcoach, Peter Butler took notice and selected Sesinyi to the national team in a crucial 2017 AFCON fixture against Comoros Islands. In national team colours Sesinyi alongside another Zebras draft pick, Olekantse Mambo, the young players gave a good account of themselves to impress the British coach.

Nevertheless, Sesinyi’s biggest opportunity came soon after when he was selected to play for the Zebras at the historic 2016 COSAFA Castle cup where the national team made it to the finals against South Africa. The COSAFA cup final gave Sesinyi the much-needed exposure to catch the eyes of cash rich PSL teams.

Moreover, Sesinyi’s meteoric rise saw him being part of the Ostriches team that beat reigning 2015/16 beMOBILE premiership champions, Township Rollers to claim the 2015/16 Mascom Top 8 trophy. Meanwhile, joining Galaxy will also give Sesinyi a chance to reach his potential with no pressure as the team does not have a strong support base.

In an interview this week, Sesinyi said he started training with Galaxy last week Friday. “I joined the club because I felt I could fit in. I am looking for room to develop as a player.”  Moreover, Sesinyi said he hoped to bring something new to the Debswana mining company backed outfit.“However, I will not put pressure to perform on myself but supporters can expect the best out of me.

Nevertheless, Sesinyi did not go into details about his departure from Orapa. Regarding his much-touted move to South Africa, Sesinyi said, 'It is a long story.” Meanwhile, Orapa spokesperson Tebatso Hule has since confirmed that they have parted ways with the budding striker. In addition, Galaxy chairman Njabulo Gilika   could not confirm nor deny whether they have signed the star striker. At Galaxy Sesinyi joins other newly-acquired stars including Christopher Musonda, Peter Olnangi, Sekhana Koko, Daniel Kedidimetse, Kabelo Dithwane and Gaopatwe Seosenyeng
