Log leaders BR Highlanders ready for TAFIC

This weekend Debswana First Division League game between TAFIC and log leaders, BR Highlanders in Francistown will either solidify BR Highlanders’ position in the log or catapult TAFIC to the apex of the log Both teams have played seven games with BR Highlanders, a Mahalapye outfit, winning five of them and drawing the other two while TAFIC won five of its games, drew one and lost one.

While BR is currently at the top of the log with 17 points, TAFIC is tied at third position with Motlakase FC with 16 points each. However, Motlakase FC has a goal advantage over TAFIC. Coach Blessing Moyo was philosophical when asked if the game doesn’t put him under pressure: “It is a game that has to be played. We take it like any other game but hope for a win so that the three points give us some form of mileage.

We need the points,” said Moyo who added that, because  Highlanders is at the top of the log, it would be an achievement to beat it. “If you seek to be a champion, you have to beat the best.” According to Moyo, TAFIC supporters have played a big role in the success of the team thus far. “The players cannot go far alone.

The supporters must come in large numbers and do what they do best which is to cheer their team to victory,” said the TAFIC mentor. For his part, Highlander coach, Oris Radipotsane bemoaned that he has not won his last two games.

“One of my problems is that, I have never played with my first choice squad due to injuries or work commitments  disturbing my players. We are however not under pressure. This is because while TAFIC have played only at home where they even lost and drew, I have won three away games,” said the former national squad player.

Radipotsana, who has coached in the Premier League indicated that he could not be under pressure ahead of a game against TAFIC because, as a coach, he has faced the Francistown based team before it relegated to the First Division League.
