Mamelodi at BFA's mercy

Suspended Botswana Premier League (BPL) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bennett Mamelodi is now at the mercy of his employers after his bid to stop a disciplinary hearing was dismissed at the Gaborone High Court.

Mamelodi faces numerous charges at the Botswana Football Association (BFA) pertaining to his office at the subordinate BPL. The case was heard before Justice Singh Walia on Monday.

Delivering judgement on the matter, Justice Walia said the BFA has followed all procedures to summon Mamelodi to a disciplinary hearing. The high court judge instructed the BFA to furnish Mamelodi with all the documents he requires to prepare for his hearing.

The BFA   was further instructed to call Mamelodi to a hearing before 28th April.Mamelodi’s attorney Dutch Leburu said the court did not rule in their favour, but the hearing will be postponed by about two weeks to enable BFA to give them the documents, which they identified in their court papers.

However, Leburu believes they will succeed with the second part of the case, as they still have to air their argument against the forensic report in connection with the case. Otto Itumeleng represented the BFA.
