League title race heats up

In their 22nd week of the2016/17 BTC premierships season, log leaders, Township Rollers are poised to extend their lead in front of the Marauding Jwaneng Galaxy FC.

Currently at 45 points and 3 games ahead of the recently crowned Mascom Top 8 champions, Jwaneng Galaxy FC, Township Rollers can already taste the silverware. However, Galaxy will ensure that they win a double this season and take two trophies back home.   Defending champions Popa will take on 12th placed Miscelleneous when they travel to Serowe this weekend. Facing the Serowe minnows will only motivate Popa to bring home maximum points.

On the other hand, Galaxy will meet giants killer Security Systems at Jwaneng Stadium. Mike ‘Dubula Dubula’ Sithole will be wary of the looming threat from Thaloba Nthaga and his charges when they meet on Saturday. Galaxy cannot afford to drop in points against league title rivals. Meanwhile Galaxy also have to worry about another threat in Orapa United who were vanquished 4-3 by the Jwaneng outfit in the epic Top 8 final.

Madinda Ndlovu’s Ostriches are expected to be in a mean mood when they host Selibe Phikwe minnows Nico United at Itekeng stadium, Orapa are currently on third place with 36 points and catching up with Galaxy who claimed their scalp   this past weekend will be some sort of revenge over their recent loss.

Meanwhile the biggest game of the weekend will undoubtedly see bitter rival Gaborone United and Mochudi Centre Chiefs tussling for mid table position at the national stadium on Saturday. Both clubs have been under par in their 2016/17 campaign and they both owe their long-suffering supporters a good result in this   encounter.

Another interesting game will see Police VI taking fellow disciplined forces BDF XI at the Otse stadium. Other weekend fixtures: Mahalapye United Hotspurs vs. Sankoyo Bush Bucks, Extension Gunners vs. Gilport Lions, Black Forest vs. Green Lovers.
