Culture Spears joins Bapedi for cultural show

The country’s leading traditional group, Culture Spears have received an invitation to perform at the Bapedi cultural show to be held at Molethi in the Limpopo Province on 20 December in South Africa.

Group lead singer Kabelo Mogwe said this year marks the fifth year that they are invited to the cultural show, adding they are happy for that. He said the show would afford them an opportunity to showcase their culture in South Africa.

“The Bapedi and Babirwa cultures are similar and this makes it more interesting to share our music with them,” he said. Mogwe said that during this show they normally return home with some gifts from the Bapedi chief after appreciating their performance.

The event organiser Mpho Mathabathe, said they invited Culture Spears because they like the group’s music and have been working with them for a long time. “We do enjoy traditional music and with Culture Spears we learnt that we will never go wrong as they are talented”, he said.

Bapedi cultural show is an annual event celebrated on the 20th December during which the Bapedi tribe celebrate their culture. During the show, lot of activities take place, people donate some presents and money to their chief to appreciate him while traditional games are played and traditional food is cooked and served to promote their culture.
