DJ Duece dumps BDF to become a DJ
A Motswana young man with a penchant to become one of Botswana’s sizzling disc jockey Duncan Mmeshe known by his fans as DJ Duece has decided to dump the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) where he was employed as a private to become a deejay.
He is currently a resident DJ at the populat Eyadini Lounge in Durban, which is also “home” to the now famous Zodwa Wa Bantu. Speaking to VIBE in a telephonic interview from his current base in Durban South Africa, DJ Duece revealed that he has always dreamed of becoming a DJ but did not have the funds to pursue his dreams hence his decision to join BDF as a stepping stone to his career in music.
He further said that he was inspired by local DJ Fresh who deserted his law degree studies at the University of Botswana to follow his dream of becoming a DJ. “He did not disappoint and has since become a DJ of repute in South Africa and the rest of Africa. I also look up to DJ Gouveia who also learnt his skills in Mzansi and I will also put Botswana in the map as a DJ,” he said. DJ Deuce is also hard at work.
“I have since made collaborations with South African vocalist by the name of Gabi in two tracks, My soldier and The beat goes on. Moreover, I am also working on releasing my first solo album that will also feature local and South African artists who include the likes of Vsto dakreator who happens to be my production teacher and sound engineer,” he said.
The ambitious DJ also revealed that he also has a Non governmental organisation called BOY CHILD, through which he imparts knowledge and life skills with young boys from disadvantaged backgrounds. He noted that once he returns home, he will continue working on the project.
