Leveticus return with banging new sound
Leveticus have released their latest banging single titled Follow. Heavyweight producers Prez Beats and BK Proctor produced the song. It was the first time that esteemed local music makers worked together on a single project. Leveticus, made of two gents, Cedric ‘Eazy’ Bojang and Potso ‘Boniface’ Tshipang, have come a long way since their days as back-up dancers for Wizards and Vee, respectively.
The two have since dropped three singles over the years, the last being ‘Baby I’m sorry’ in 2015, which received a lot of airplay. They describe their latest single as a party song with a strong message.
The song has the en-vogue Nigerian sound, with a catchy beat that one can gyrate to. The lyrics are however not as lighthearted as they talk about the challenges they have faced in the music industry so far and how they want others to follow their lead and make their own mark. The duo told Vibe that music is a full-time profession for them because not only do they love it, but it is also the only thing that they have experience in. “ They admit that music in Botswana is tough but they have weathered the storm.
“It is a small market and difficult to break into but our passion has kept us going on even when things were tough,” they noted. The two said that they pride themselves on having overcome the challenges that they faced. “This latest song talks about our hustle and how we want to be our own leaders.” Following the success of their past single, the two are confident that they can break into the South African and Namibian markets.
“We want to take our music out of Botswana and we are confident that we have a unique sound that will appeal to other Africans. We also want our music videos to play on South African channels, which are giving many artists airplay,” added Boniface. The two are already in studio and working on an album that they plan to release next year.
The two are also the brains behind the annual G-wawa Summer festival, which they aim to grow in stature as time goes by. *Follow them on their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages, Leveticus BW or download their songs on SoundCloud. You can also email them on gwawasummerfest@gmail.com.
