Dark Boy stirs up a hit storm with Mr Blesser

Masego Ntshontsi, better known as Dark Boy, has released a single track dubbed, ‘Mr Blesser’. Dark Boy is a House music DJ and entertainer. In a recent interview, he told Vibe that Mr Blesser is a Tswana hip-hop song and through this song he is targeting all Setswana speaking people in order to ensure that the message reaches them.

Dark Boy explained that Mr Blesser came as his single track this year because he has realised that the culture of ‘blesser-blesee’ gets popular on a daily basis. “Through this song, I plead with my sisters out there to avoid going to night spots empty handed with high hopes of being sponsored by men because at the end of the day those very same men are going to demand something in return.

Be your own blesser,” he said. He added that some men find themselves in the pressure of cash power because they believe that in order to hang with a good looking woman a man has to have money on expectations of favours known to them. The 27-year-old has collaborated with Mckenzie the ex-member of Rhythmic Elements from South Africa in the beautiful song. The video was recently shot in Johannesburg with Gorilla Films.

The song played for the first time on Btv’s Flava Dome. Dark Boy says that he has also submitted the video with various television stations in South Africa such as Main Stream, Channel 0 and SABC. He said that he developed passion for music at the age of 14 and he instantly knew that music would be his career path. He has seven singles under belt and has collaborated with various artists including Amantle Brown, ATI, Mingo, Nwelo and Samba T, to mention a few.

“Some of my single tracks include BMW with ATI, which was released in 2014 and Mari a pela with Amantle Brown and Zwai in 2013,” he said. Dark Boy will perform in Palapye at Chisa Nyama over the Independence Holiday. Mr Blesser has so far been played in South Africa at Mafikeng, Pretoria and Joburg where it has received positive feedback.
