Next Best DJ Academy unveils new faces behind the decks

Next Best DJ Academy recently held the Spring Music to prepare aspirant DJs for the world of entertainment, which coincided with the reveal of the top ten finalists of the Next Best DJ competition. Held under the theme, ‘Heels, Hats and Headphones’, the event attracted young women who are passionate about music and spinning the decks. But it wasn’t only about music as there were also empowering presentations. Otsile Nchingane spoke about financial management while Kelly Ramputswa, station manager at Yarona FM, who is also known as DJ Ms Kels, spoke about rising up the ranks in entertainment and how to get exposure. Entrepreneur and media personality DJ Tshepang Motsitsi, popularly known as DJ Izzy, inspired the participants when he made a presentation on how to stand out as an entertainer. To wrap up the talks was DJ Cupid who spoke about her journey in the entertainment industry and sharing pearls of wisdom on how to remain relevant. Next Best DJ Academy is a 100 percent and youth owned DJ school based in Gaborone. The school offers aspirant DJs with training, exposure, mentorship and management. The school aims to empower the next generation of leaders in the DJ industry and contribute towards professionalising the DJ industry in Botswana.

 

The prizes were as follows:

First prize – P10,000 cash and one year contract with Chez Nicolas that includes an allowance.

The second prize winner walked away with P5000, while the third place winner wiped her tears with P2500.
