Jojo's platinum sales initiative in motion

One of Botswana’s most celebrated traditional artists Jojo, aims to sell over 100 000 copies of her brand new album titled Borrasetori, which is her sophomore album following her first studio Mpatiseng. When this publication published a story of her intentions to sell 100 000 copies locally recently, some skeptics brushed her off as they strongly believed that she was clutching at straws and inviting media attention on the impossible.

But the energetic artist has not allowed the naysayers to put her down as she has started distributing the album. This weekend Vibe caught up with Jojo in Francistown at Monarch complex where she was busy marketing and distributing copies of her album. In an interview, she pointed out that some people had tried to discourage her but she would not let any negativity halt her plans. “I was very lucky to meet my current manager Gilbert Seagile popularly known as PP in the local music industry when I first made my entry.

He has instilled in me the hard-core personality; I am rarely intimidated and always focus on what I set my eyes on. Through hard work and determination, I have managed to make a mark across southern Africa. This is a clear sign that I have the courage to face masses in my musical career,” she said. Jojo added that her 100 000 copies project would be a resounding success.

“Even though I cannot state the exact number of CDs I have managed to distribute over the last two months, I can assure you that the figures are escalating daily and by next year I will have probably achieved my goal of reaching platinum status,” she said confidently. Her manager, PP, reiterated that the album is selling like hot cakes. “We are targeting as many people as we can. There are high profile people including government employees and celebrities who have already bought this album. We are taking this great project to the people,” he said.
