DIY make-up tips
A local make-up consultant trading with the Facebook name ‘Beautybylei’ visited our offices to give us a quick demonstration on how to transform the look from morning to evening; using simple make-up tricks.
For the ‘daytime look’ stick to the more natural shades and for the ‘night time look’ pop up the colours and use more highlighters. The model in this case, was our colleague Neo Pilane, who works in the commercial department as the CBET Group, Online Sales Executive.
Here are some of the secret tips from Beautybylei. Kindly note that all products she is referring to are available in local stores.
Create an illusion of fuller brows Fill in the eyebrows with a brown pencil, not a black pencil, that’s a no, no, no. Then use a concealer below the eyebrow line to highlight the arch of the brow. The concealer should be two shades lighter than your skin colour so it stands out.
Blend, blend and blendThe secret to a flawless face is to blend the concealer with a beauty blender to avoid having the ‘halo’ look. Always use an eye-shadow base to avoid the eye shadow creasing.
Use of colour correctorIf someone has dark circles under the eyes or any dark patches on the face they can use a colour corrector. For dark skins or people of colour, use ‘orange based’ corrector. And for white skins the advice is to use a ‘green based’ corrector.
Face primer Use a face primer as a base before applying any foundation so that your make-up can last longer.
Contouring This make-up secret was made super popular by the Kardashian sisters. This is where a darker shade is used, to darken parts of the face in an attempt to scalp it to what you want it to look like. Used well the trick can add extra definition to the cheeks, nose and forehead. Always highlight with a concealer the parts of the face that are more exposed to the sun.
Baking the faceOnce the make-up has been applied, you should bake the face so that the make-up does not crease.
Strip lashes If you are going to add or use any strip lashes to enhance your natural lashes you should add them above the natural eyelash line. Strip lashes are simple and easy to use and remove. Use the lash curler to define the shape of the lashes.
