Ruby Rider's album counsels married women
Lovely Moleo popularly known as Ruby Rider in the music scene, has already started trading her name with an Afro pop album titled Phutha mitolo that will hit the shelves end of January.
Phutha mitolo is iKalanga word which reminds married women to leave their families and join their husbands to become one flesh. Rider says it’s not good for women to stay with their parents while they are married. The album composes of six tracks and was recorded at Kenako studio in Zimbabwe.
One of the songs - Boswelapelong - featuring Mbaqanga sensation Mc Maswe has all the hallmarks of a hit. “Boswelapelong is an Afro Pop song dedicated to those young ones who deeply fall in love and have good time with their partners,” she said.
Rider’s love for music started at an early age. She was inspired by Mc Maswe’s hit song, Matsale, which has been ringing on her eardrums since she first heard it. “ I then started searching for Mc Maswe so that he could teach and mentor me,” she remembers.
“And immediately after I met him everything fell in place,” she adds. She has carved a path which she says she will follow come hell or high waters.
