Millennium beauty pageant psyches contestants

Miss Millennium beauty pageant coordinator Zenzele Hirschfeld on Saturday organised a high tea for potential contestants to prepare them mentally, emotionally and physically in their bid to succeed Sandra Ramanteba.

The private meeting took place at the Millenium Jazz restaurant. Dressed in all white, the ladies listened attentively as former Miss Botswana, Juby Peacock, apprised them of her own experiences as a contestant for the Miss Botswana pageant some years back.

She told them of how she had set herself goals and how she ensured by all means that she does everything in her power to win the crown. She said that life is like a race and cautioned the women against giving up easily no matter what challenges they face. She encouraged them to be focused on their goals, to constantly re-evaluate themselves and plan their time carefully.

Founder of Botswana Network for Mental Health, Charity Kennedy also shared on the importance of giving as a beauty queen. “Before you give, you have to identify your purpose in life,” she said. She went to say that there is no point in giving material things if one’s mindset is not right.

She said when giving, one has to plan how to give citing the example of billionaire, Bill Gates whose charity works are administered by his Foundation. For their part, the contestants thanked the guest speakers for the lessons they shared with them saying they had indeed learnt a lot from them.
