Nnunu shoots video, works on 2nd studio album

Three years after the release of her award winning debut album, Nnunu Ramogotsi has finally shot a video to one of the songs that cemented her place in the hearts of music lovers both locally and internationally.

The video to the hit song Mmasonoko will be released soon and it is presently being edited and given its final touches. It was shot recently at the Bahurutshe Cultural Village in Mmankgodi by Studio 24.

The debut album Mmasonoko was released in 2012. An ecstatic Nnunu told Vibe that the song Mmasonoko speaks about a wedding, cows and patlo. She also says that they have stayed true to that theme in the video, and that they went for a traditional feel. She blames her “hectic work schedule” for the long time it took her to produce videos for her debut album.

“A good video is not something that you make in a rush. It’s a process that has a lot of dynamics such as telling the story in a winning formula, having a budget for everything, finding the right wardrobe as well as timing,” she said adding that everything had to be coordinated well.

In the first week of May, she will be going back to studio to record songs for her second album. She is working with Daniel Njoroge (producer from her first album) who is presently based in Cape Town. And the album will be recorded at Hi Note Studios (owned by Tshepo Lesole).

“I am raising the tempo in this album. It took me this long because I want a product that will blow people away, and I want it to surpass what Mmasonoko achieved,” she said, adding that she has been writing material through the years.

The songs are inspired by everyday life, and they are educational and inspirational. “I have an incredible story to tell,” she said.
