All-star comedy show reaches Orapa
Residents of Orapa will this Saturday enjoy an All-Star Comedy show, which will also double as the official launch for Phenyo ‘The Master’ Phaladi’s latest One-Man DVD, Hilarious Exaggerations at Itekeng hall.
The show starts at 7pm. It will feature The ‘Master’ Phaladi from Mochudi, Kelekwang ‘Rekunde’ Mophaleng from Maun and Gabane’s Oefile ‘Mawee’ Mokgware supported by Shima ‘Jerusalema’ Nnanaakoko from Molepolole and Stix from Maun.
The Masster’s Hilarious Exaggerations was recorded recently in Gaborone. “Having produced many shows around the country and also taking comedians to perform in South Africa alongside top comedians there, it was only natural to show growth through performing in towns we have not explored before and also introduce stand-up comedy as an alternative form of entertainment around the country,” said events coordinator for Major Moves Comedy, Gaolathe Kediemetse.
Orapa is not the only town that will be treated to a comedy show. Maun will also be treated to a ‘Maun Invasion Comedy show’ at the Cresta Riley’s poolside bar hosted by local comedian, Ribcracker.
The show will start at 7pm and will end in the wee hours of the morning. Headlining the show will be Ribcracker, Paps, Prince Machaeng and Biedash. Amateur comedians are also welcome to attend and showcase their skills. One of the organisers, Bose Bonda says this is the first of many shows they are planning to hold throughout the country.
“We have had requests from people who don’t stay in Gaborone but have attended the cracker comedy nights in Gaborone to come to places they stay in so we decided to answer that call,” he explained. He went on to say Maun is the first place in their tour.
