Miss Botswana in China for 65th Miss World finals
The most beautiful women of the world are converging in Sanya, China for the 65th edition of the Miss World beauty pageant. The finals will take place on December 19th at the Crown of Beauty Theatre. The reigning queen, Rolene Strauss of South Africa who enjoyed a successful reign since being crowned the winner in London last year, will crown her successor.
One hundred delegates have been confirmed for this year’s pageant and most of the beauty queens departed for China over the past week. In the coming weeks, the aspiring queens alongside Botswana’s very own Seneo Bambino Mabengano will go all out to wow and woo the judges in a bid to secure an impressive spot that might edge them closer to winning the ultimate crown.
The 19 year-old left for China on Friday, and from the minute that she lands in the host country, all her movements and everything that she does will be watched with a hawk’s eye by chaperones and those tasked with seeing to who eventually wins the crown. Mabengano hails from Mmadinare and in a recent press release, she spoke about how being crowned Miss Botswana has changed her life. “It is surreal that I was chosen the fairest of them all and I continue to be thankful for the opportunity to represent my country,” she said in the release.
The beauty queen is a student of Professional Design at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology. She is looking forward to meeting other beauty queens and making her mark in the competition. She has also embarked on numerous activities in preparation for the Miss World pageant. “I have made it, my mission is on to help the less privileged kids around Botswana by assisting various organisations to raise awareness and collection of amenities for them. This includes collection of food hampers and clothing for children at Princess Marina Hospital who may need this kind of assistance,” she said.
“This is a project I have been working on since the start of the Miss Botswana journey and will be presenting it at Miss World. I intend to continue with the project long after the competition is over and trust that the ever so kind people of Botswana will continue to support my endeavours,” she added.
She promised to do her “very best” to be counted amongst the worthy beauties to wear the Miss World crown. “I know and believe that with your prayers all is possible. As a proud Motswana I will be sharing the beauty and warmth of my country with all those I will meet in China,” said Mabengano.
