My nephew loved his booze - Uncle
Those who knew the couple closely in Gaborone, Mahalapye and Metsimotlhabe, including family members, are in distraught. Terribly burnt bodies of Daisy Mogojwe and Ramoshabati Mokgalagadi were removed from the house by members of the Botswana Police Service and Fire department on Sunday around 8:30 am. Joseph Kuo Gabalebatse is the one who had to help identify his nephew Mokgalagadi. He told The Midweek Sun in an interview that the man was in a very bad state. He had received a call around 9am that Sunday morning, from someone alerting him that Mokgalagadi could be the victim in the fire incident. Along with other family members, he rushed to the scene, where unfortunately the police did not allow them entry. Again, the bodies had already been taken to Princess Marina Hospital mortuary. So they went to Gaborone West Police Station where they were sent to the mortuary. “My nephew was in a very bad state. He was beyond recognition and his bones were visible. The flesh had burnt completely,” he said. Gabalebatse said that Mokgalagadi, 41, was from Mahalapye. He said that the last time he saw him was last year. “He loved his booze but he never harassed anyone. Never in my life have I heard of him being accused of a crime,” he said. On Tuesday, Local Government and Rural Development assistant minister Botlogile Tshireletso, who is the aunt to the deceased, certified the body at the mortuary where post mortem was done. “He was terrible. You can’t recognise him. Though we don’t know what happened, we just have to wait for the findings from the police and fire departments. I’m told the woman was his girlfriend,” she said, adding that they would be leaving for Mahalapye once the results are out to prepare for the funeral.
