Free fashion show raises awareness on gender based violence

Beverly Models in Francistown will host a gender based violence fashion show dubbed the spring fashion next month at Francistown Civic centre. The aim of the fashion show is to sensitise people about the effects of violence on those affected. The modelling agency use photos shot with models using acrylic models to display various acts of gender based violence and post them on social media platforms including facebook and Instagram for sensitisation purposes. The agency, which is struggling to get sponsorship have once hosted a fashion show which involved the Ministry of Gender Affairs but they still remain without a sponsor. During the fashion show, the organisers will be working with three Francistown based as well as performing artistes from Francistown such as Bblock and Maff Bizness from Ghetto Hard entertainment. Moreover, the show will also be showcasing clothing lines by fellow Francistown youth including Condrakeith, Kasi Laam and Black. The free show comes at a right time when gender based violence is escalating in the country as supported by growing number of passion killings, rape of minors and the elderly. According to the organisers, this will be a healing platform for those who have been abused and those still face with predicaments related to gender abuse to come to terms with and share their experiences.
