Ian Khama’s ‘blue-eyed boy’ Nkarabang kicked out of OP

Former President Ian Khama’s ‘golden boy’ Tsaone Nkarabang has been removed from the Office of the President (OP) and transferred to Sowa where he will be Deputy Commissioner in the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration. This was revealed in a transfers and deployments statement communicated by Permanent Secretary to the President and Secretary to Cabinet, Carter Morupisi Nkarabang served as Private Secretary to Khama during the latterr’s tenure. Nkarabang grabbed public attention in 2016 when a secret file revealed how he had been receiving special treatment at the expense of taxpayer’s money. As a result of that exposé, news reporter, Sonny Serite was arrested while a government official - Abueng Sebola - then a records officer at OP, was fired from his position.Information from the file indicated that public funds were used to mollycoddle Nkarabang, who was considered one of Khama’s favourites including footing his medical bills following a quad biking accident. Morupisi announced movements that include Joseph Kefas who has been promoted to Deputy National Coordinator in the ministry of health and wellness; Obusitswe Tiroesele appointed Director in the Department of Industrial Affairs in the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry; Midas Sekgabo appointed Director in the Department of Energy in the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security, while Thomas Motingwa has been appointed Director, coordinating the office for people with disabilities in the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration. Patrick Masokwane has been appointed Deputy Director in Health Services Management in the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
