The newly unveiled Mrs Feels, Sadi Dikgaka wants women to be bold and stop shying away from talking openly with their partners about sexual health and wellness issues. The media personality and Flavour Dome presenter as well as Oscar Gobusamang (actor) were unveiled as the faces of the new Durex Feels condom this week. As Mr & Mrs Feels they will visit tertiary institutions in and around Gaborone, and share with the youth the importance of sexual health and wellness. Feels is a new condom by Durex, and it is primarily targeting the youth. Speaking during an interview on Monday, Dikgaka said some women are shy to talk openly about sex related matters because Batswana are a conservative nation. Women were also afraid to bring up this topic as they were afraid to be seen as too sexual. She said women should be free to bring up the topic of protection, failing which they stand to lose more than the men. “It is also our responsibility as women to talk about protection. If you don’t, you might end up pregnant or contract sexually transmitted infections,” she said. She maintained that as products of love making, it is high time people stopped treating sex talk as a taboo. However, she admitted the difficulty involved in talking openly about sex with one’s partner. “This is a topic that every woman and their partners must have because sex is real. I want to drive the message home that let us protect ourselves while we are engaging in sexual activities,” she said. Dikgaka warned that people should not be too comfortable and assume to know it all when it comes to HIV&AIDS, as there are new developments every day with regards to the virus. “We need to be safe at all times,” she said. She cautioned women to stop ingesting pills that are meant to eliminate pregnancy as they are causing damage to their bodies. “You can not keep ingesting chemicals and pills, and thinking that your body will be ok,” said Dikgaka. She called on parents to start taking to their children about sex from an early age. “If they keep them in a bubble, they will expose them to a lot of danger,” she said. Mr Feels stressed the importance of talking openly about sex and its related topics. He said gone are the days when sex was a taboo, adding that being open about this matter will save a lot of lives. “As young people, we should be saying that I can have protected sex.”According to Michelle Phetlhe of ESTeRES Boutique Agency - campaign is one of the ways that her company and Durex are keeping the conversation alive around the topic of sex and all related matters. She said the talk started last year during two of their events (Women’s Etiquette Brunch and the Just Sex event). She said Mr & Mrs Feels will share health information and motivate the target market to be safe when it comes to sex. “For this campaign we were searching for people who were relatable and confident. And the two of them suit the campaign perfectly,” she said.
