Kalavango Awards ahead of new season

A fantastic night of festivities at Baobab English Medium saw Kalavango Volleyball Club reward eight of its players at a glitzy ceremony. The Kalavango Awards, sponsored by Vincent Excellent Tours, consisted of four categories for both women and men. The categories included the Most Improved Player, Most Disciplined Player, Young and Promising Player and the Player of the Season Award being the biggest award for the night. The players were rewarded for their key performances in the previous season. The Most Improved Player award was scooped by the sensational Ngirl Wright for the ladies’ category. Wright showed a significant growth in the previous Mascom National Volleyball League while Masedi Ntoka was the most improved in the men’s category, both players walked away with a prize of P500. As always sports stars are expected to carry within themselves high levels of discipline on and off the field of play. Wabongwa Cathy Boima was rewarded for the lady’s most disciplined category while heavy hitter Tlhalefo Mongalelwa was the most disciplined in the men’s side. Both players walked away with a P500 prize each. Meanwhile Boago Motsuminyana has shown drastic improvement and being one of the future prospects he won the Young and Promising award from the men’s side while Onalenna Motswagole was the winner from the lady’s side, they each pocketed P500 as well. The biggest winners for the night were the player of the season for both men and women. The veteran Monica Alfred, who is also the Public Relations Officer of the club was named player of the season in the women category and she walked away with P1000. Phemelo Lekoko was named player of the season on the men’s side.
