BDP’s Kanye North parliamentary candidate starts campaigns
Aspiring Kanye North Parliamentary candidate, Thapelo Letsholo held an event to unite democrats on Saturday at Seepapitso Senior School under the theme re boloditse Letsholo mo Kanye North. This comes after a fierce Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) primary election battle, which toppled Kanye North Member of Parliament, Patrick Pule Ralotsia and many other political party candidates.Letsholo attended the workshop along with his nine council candidates. during the event, BDP Secretary General Mpho Balopi said that the aim of the gathering was to embrace each other and get ready for national elections. He advised the Kanye North aspiring legislator and his team of councillors to work together to achieve a common goal of winning the constituency. “It is easier to work as a team, councilors should not only campaign for themselves but for their area MP as well and action will be taken for councilors who only campaign for themselves,” he said. Balopi told candidates to dedicate time and resources to fight for the party and urged the representatives to humble themselves before voters. “There is political instability within the party and we are left with eight months before general elections, you can either mould or break the party, but we should join hands in working together,” said Balopi. Former Kanye North MP, Kentse Rammidi shared that BDP candidates should uphold a strong image as they are competing against other political party candidates. “Image is important, the way you dress and handle yourself as a political candidate matters,” he said. Rammidi also advised candidates to desist from over drinking in public areas. For his part, Letsholo assured attendants that he had made peace with his primary election opponents, despite their differences. He also promised his constituents a fair representation and encouraged them to elect him for the Kanye North parliamentary seat.
