Murder convict back in court
Kabo Motlhabane, 35, commonly known as ‘Sebente’ in Molepolole, will appear for mention before Molepolole Magistrate Court on April 11. The man, who allegedly stabbed to death his 33 year-old ex-girlfriend BoipeloMpolokang on February 22 was on February 25 arraigned before Molepolole Magistrate Nthabiseng Merafhe-Tladi. He allegedly stabbed Mpolokang, an Ipelegeng employee, in front of her colleagues. Molepolole Police Station Commander Superintendent Burns said that on the fateful day, the deceased’s daughter and some of her close friends were under police protection because the suspect allegedly threatened them. He said the suspect had two previous murder convictions. He was on the run for two days and was eventually arrested next to Engen Filling Station in Molepolole around 9pm. He appeared for mention on March 11, and remains incarcerated. According to the charge sheet read in court, Motlhabane is facing one count of murder and the other of threat to kill. Particulars of the threat to kill charge are that on the same day that he killed Mpolokang, the accused, without lawful excuse threatened Maemo Tiro by uttering these words, “o bona wena mo two weeks ke tlaabo ke go bolaile kana o mpolaile,” meaning “in two weeks’ time I would have killed you or you would have killed me,” or words to that effect. Supt Burns said while on the run, Motlhabane allegedly hijacked a car belonging to one Ramotswa family whom he forced to drive him around.
