Elegant beauty queen Same puts her best foot forward
At only 19, an ambitious local model Same Lekwape promises to be a force to be reckoned with as she scooped The Miss Universal Petite Botswana crown late last year. The Tlokweng-born lass will now compete at the Miss Universal Petite International in the United States of America (USA) Miami soon. In a recent interview with Vibe, Lekwape said her passion for modelling started while she was still at kindergarten. “I have been into beauty pageantry from the age of six and it is now developing into something great. Furthermore, I am so excited that I will be going to Miami and I cannot wait to explore and make new friends,” she said. The determined model further disclosed to Vibe that besides modelling, she is a second year BA (Hons) in Broadcasting & Journalism at Limkokwing University. “I also love singing, travelling. I am also considering entering business opportunities in the near future.” Quizzed about the challenges she faces as a young woman who is determined to breakthrough into the modelling scene, she cited lack of finances as the main challenge. “As a model you need accommodation, there are also travelling costs and lastly, you need a wardrobe to sustain your just started career,” she said. Nevertheless, Lekwape highlighted that she gets her inspiration from her late mother as she relentlessly embarking on her favourite endeavours (modelling) and hopefully graduate and own a business one-day. The stunning beauty also intends to take part in Miss Botswana this year.
