RDC Properties officially opens the trendy Radisson RED
RDC Properties’ latest hospitality property, The Radisson RED Johannesburg Rosebank, this week hosted its much-anticipated grand opening ceremony at the plush hotel situated in the up-and-coming Oxford Parks part of the Rosebank. According to a statement issued by the Botswana Stock Exchange listed group the hotel is the first Radisson RED Hotel in the Gauteng Province and the second in the country and the continent, after the Radisson RED Cape Town. “The ultimate objective for us, was that this hotel becomes the heart of the social and cultural life of the city. In pursuit of this unique concept, we convinced the design team to use “real artworks”, and we decided that we would engage with the local and international community of artists to create a hotel that inspires,” group executive chairman, Guido Giachetti. The Radisson RED is home to an assortment of beautiful art pieces that can be enjoyed by guests from all walks of life. Through a collaboration with local artists, the property is a platform for the artists to showcase their work on rotation, and gives established as well as upcoming local artists an opportunity for their work to gain the much-needed publicity and exposure.
“We are proud to have created something iconic that ‘turns up the beat’. This property is simply the best of the Radisson Hotel Group and of Johannesburg. It is in line with the pillars of the Radisson Red brand and ethos, and it embodies what we needed – fresh, innovative, cutting edge and bold, but even more than that; honest, authentic, consistent, drawing its inspiration from people. That is consistent with who we are as a brand, and as a business,” Giachetti when speaking at the grands opening.
President of Business Unity South Africa Bonang Mohale hailed the Botswana based company. “We appreciate the investment made by RDC Properties into our economy at this critical time, and recognize that it demonstrates confidence in shared value that can be harnessed if we put our resources together to extract value from our own Africa, for our benefit and that of our future descendants, “he said.
For his part Tim Cordon, Senior Area Vice President, Middle East and Africa at Radisson Hotel Group said, “In Africa, the RED journey began in 2017, when we opened our first hotel in Cape Town. I could not think of a better location than Rosebank, Johannesburg as our next RED flag in the African map. It perfectly mirrors the brand with its individuality, it’s ode to art and its urban vibrancy that is attractive to all segments from the surrounding corporates to those wanting to connect and bask in Joburg’s captivating energy in an inspiring location.”
