Career Coaching drills 200 youth on business skills
Some 200 youth from across the country are expeected to descend on Travel Lodge in Gaborone’s Block 3 surburb tomorrow (January 19) to kick off the first session of Career Coaching youth mentorship programme this year. Held under the theme Nurturing a Vibrant and Globally Competitive Youth, the session will drill youth on traits required for building a winning mindset in business and life in general.
Event Organiser Lillian Moremi, also a renowned Youth Development Practitioner said the objective of Career Coaching mentorship programme is to encourage young people, between the ages of 15-35 years, to unleash their best potential. This, they hope to do by connecting the youth with exceptional leaders across various professions from whom they can learn valuable career and leadership lessons.
She told Botswana Guardian in an interview that they want to kick off the year by focusing on motivating the youth to start the year on a high note and share more on how they can sustain their actions throughout 2019 for a successful year ahead. Moremi said that the session’s theme - Nurturing a Vibrant and Globally Competitive Youth will guide all the youth programmes that they conduct throughout 2019. Youth participants will get an opportunity to interact with and be motivated by invited guests among them, Emily Summers: Deputy Commissioner at the British High Commission.
Esteemed businessman with over 60 years in business, a mentor passionate about youth development and also event sponsor, Manhar Mooney- will spare his time to drill the youth on ‘Building Good Habits for a Successful 2019’while Sistewr Kanan will teach on the Art of Meditation. Moremi said they have managed to coach over 500 young people across the country on subjects such as financial literacy, entrepreneurship, work readiness, career planning and leadership development programmes with the support and partnership of various stakeholders.
