Botswana Accountancy College (BAC), the premier business school has engaged with stakeholders to find solutions to the challenges affecting the graduates and job industry.

Among the key issues discussed includes curriculum development, to develop new industry relationships, and to identify opportunities for student attachments, internships and employment opportunities. On Tuesday, the BAC Director of Computing Dr Galamoyo Male explained that they need a continuous engagement with industry leaders and constantly get information about the experiences and challenges in the job market.

“We need to constantly get data from the stakeholders so that we can align our curriculum to produce skilled graduates who are ready for the job market”, said Male.He said the institution is in the process to establish a committee that will review the graduate’s performance in the industry.

“Through this engagement we want industry leaders to help us come up with the best solutions to address the challenge of skills mismatch in the job market,” he said. The seminar attracted industry champions from various sectors like education, finance, banking both from government and private institutions.

Meanwhile,  BAC head of Strategy and Institutional Planning, Veronica Mphathi said BAC strategy focuses on job readiness and employability. Further more the strategy encourages students to be entrepreneurs and not just to look for jobs. “We encourage entrepreneurship because we teach our students to be solution providers from any field”,

She appealed to the stakeholders to support graduates by giving them relevant tasks and challenging works so they can sharpen their work skills.
