Baby mama struck to death with a hoe
- Boyfriend kills lover in the presence of his 2-year-old child
Maikano Ditsebe Pelaelo (41) is accused of killing his girlfriend Tumelo Suwe (39) by striking her with a hoe just above her left eye on Sunday night.
Pelaelo allegedly killed Suwe in front of their two-year-old baby girl. He then locked the door and fled, leaving the mother soaked in a pool of blood and the baby inside the house.
Confirming the incident, Officer Commanding No 10 District Meshack Pulenyane said Pelaelo appeared before Selebi Phikwe Chief Magistrate Basetsana Keakantse on Tuesday.
“The police were made aware of the incident around 2pm on Sunday. The mother to the deceased was alarmed by the baby’s cries from inside the house, it appears she was hungry. She found ways of looking into the locked house and that is when she saw her daughter lying unconscious on the bed,” Pulenyane said.
After intensive searching and through the assistance of Mmadinare community, the police managed to locate Pelaelo on Monday morning, hiding.
“Suspicion is that the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday. We are not really sure what transpired between the two lovers but from the look of things, something happened in the house,” he said.
At this stage, the police are not sure if the little girl witnessed her mother being killed or if it all happened when she was sleeping. Magistrate Keakantse granted prosecution’s request on Tuesda for Pelaelo to be remanded in custody until further notice. He will appear in court again on the 25th July 2022.
In a separate incident that happened in Selibe-Phikwe, Botshabelo ward Phase 4 this past weekend, a wife is reeling in shock after her husband committed suicide inside their bedroom.
“The husband is alleged to have instructed the wife to go fuel their car at a nearby fuelling station. He then told their two kids to accompany their mother. When they returned, the husband was hanging from the roof dead,” Pulenyane said, adding that the wife and kids told the police that they
were gone for 40 minutes only to find the husband dead.
“The wife says they had gone to bed happy the previous day, even woke up happy. She did not notice anything unusual about her husband. In fact the husband is the one who gave her money to go fuel the car so that they can travel to Mosweu village in the Tswapong area, the husband’s home village.”
