Destination Imagination,in collaboration with Gaborone Senior Secondary School held its first student expo under the theme, 'My Artistry, My Talent.'

Learners from the institution are pioneers of the programme which uses Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics to create gizmos and technological solutions for the problems in the modern world.

Speaking at the award ceremony and exposition that the students held to showcase the gizmos they had built, the school head Lesedi Tshabangu said that they are pleased that GSS has joined the ICT transformation race.

Tshabangu stated that since last year, 160 students have joined the Destination Imagination club which gives them the opportunity to come up with gizmo and robotic skills. Tshabangu noted that this births creative and innovative learners.

The Operations Manager of Destination Imagination Botswana, Shyline Mothoni noted that DI has embraced the call by President Mokgweetsi Masisi for education training and skills development systems to be developed to embrace science, innovation, and technology.

In an interview with The Midweek Sun, Project Coordinator of Destination Imagination Tshiamo Badubi stated that the greatest potential of students was that they had real-life solutions to problems in Botswana.

Badubi said some learners came up with concepts of desalinating ocean water and tracking domestic and wild stock movement.

Even though the learners had very limited resources Badubi said they still made the most of it and built amazing concepts with the little they had.
