Juju Boy & Bantwini team up for epic maiden Mascom Live Sessions
Local sensation, Juju Boy is conceptualising one epic set for his maiden performance at the Mascom Live Sessions.
Juju Boy born Kgotla Ntsima is hyped up by this opportunity to showcase his talent, and become part of the Mascom Live Sessions alumni. Juju Boy told BG Style on Tuesday evening, that he has always dreamt about showcasing his versatility at one of the sessions.
For two years or so, there have been talks about getting him in the line-up, and that it was only a matter of finding the right time, content and partner to get him to Botswana Craft. The first edition of the Mascom Live Sessions takes place on April 27th.
That partner happens to be none other than South Africa’s Zakes Bantwini, who is also making his maiden appearance at the Mascom Live Sessions. Now that this dream is coming true, he promises his fans a banging show that will sure keep them on their toes from start to end.
“I am very excited. And this means that I must apply myself. The stakes are very high,” he explains adding that he rates Bantwini highly. Presently, his latest single titled How many lovers produced by Skizo is in high rotation on local radio stations.
Sharing what his fans and supporters can expect from his performance, he reveals that it will be a live act, and that he will be accompanied by a live band. “I promise them the best performance musically,” he says. He also says that music will be the star of the show, and that there will be no gimmicks.
“It will be raw and beautiful. And it will be something that someone who knows music can respect,” he reveals. So will he feature his partner, Amantle Brown, well the answer is no.
Meanwhile, he explains that he is busy in studio working on new material for his album. Having taken note of the fact that most Batswana never get full access to a whole album, he says that the plan this time around is to release songs from his anticipated album as singles.
This will ensure that all songs get attention from his supporters. The songs will be released over two years. Besides Skizo, other songs from the album are produced by Prez Beats and Berry Bone.
With the new album, he says it shows his growth in music and also pays careful attention to those who have been with him from day one. “The music is true to my age and fans,” he says.
Event organiser, Oliver Groth of Botswana Craft, says they decided on this line-up as they wanted something fresh and artists who they had never featured before. “We are trying to bring different acts, who we have never hosted before for the first event,” he explains.
The event seeks to get their revellers up on their feet and dancing before winter. “Both Bantwini and Juju Boy will keep the revelers on their feet,” he says. He also notes that in total they have about five events in a year, and that for the remaining events, they are working on a good line-up.
