MAXY DROPS HIT
Talented Maxy KhoiSan aka MmaGauta has just dropped her second single song of the year dubbed, ‘Kgang Tsa ga Malome’ featuring Chambers Musiq.
The once queen of traditional music has released this second single under the genre of Setswana Cultural Traditional Dance, fused with sound elements of Jazz, three Step, AfroPop and Folklore to give her music a fresh touch. As a versatile musician and songwriter, she told Vibe that she deliberately mixes up genres as a way of improving the previous Maxy KhoiSan traditional Music sounds.
“We used live recorded guitars to give this song a top notch quality and I will always release setswana music as it is my gift,” she said emphasising that to her music is a calling of God and her great ancestors.
“I do other genres because I’m a versatile musician by birth and born to serve various sounds in showbiz,” said Maxy KhoiSan.
This song she said, is a self explanatory and talks about the immoral acts of some uncles towards their nieces. Maxy KhoiSan has observed with regret that in today’s society uncles have become abusers of their nieces instead of protecting them.
“They want sexual relations or benefits from young girls when their families rather expects them to be protective over their nieces,” shared Maxy KhoiSan. She told Vibe that as a musician, she could only send out the message through this song because her main worry is that this has become very common within the community and families choose not to report these incidents.
“Nieces are usually afraid to report themselves because they fear that no one will believe them in the family and sometimes they are just scared that the uncle will stop providing for them,” she said.
“I felt that it is high time these issues are said out loudly to stop this immorality that is always silenced by families. This is killing the young girls and also contaminating our beautiful nation,” she added.
The song therefore says, “Kgalemang batsadi ko lapeng...Kgalemang Sechaba ko lapeng' bo Malome ba tsositse nthagaraga ...ba remakaka bana gotwe ba ba godise..ba keketa bana gotwe ba ba tlhokomele' meaning that parents and the general public should take responsibility in condemning such behaviour and save children from toxic uncles.
Maxy KhoiSan is of the view that this causes permanent psychological damage to girl children which messes up all their future relations or confidence as they grow up. This songs goes with hashtags; #NoToImmorality and #NoToChildAbuse and Maxy KhoiSan is hopeful that people will join hands to address this issue.
The song was recorded by Elvas Ntongana and Kemo Masoko at chambers Musiq. It was released this past Saturday and it is currently available on all digital platforms only for streamings and downloads.
